About us

Founding board members of Agape.
In March of 2006 Wayne and Kim Harrison traveled to Romania for the first time. They felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to reach out to Orphans in Eastern Europe. Not knowing anything about Romania, they contacted Missionaries in Romania and made arrangements to come and visit and see what the Lord was leading them to do.

They spent two weeks with an organization in Western Romania called Romanian Orphan Ministries. Their President, Corey Burba and the staff showed Wayne and Kim all of the different facets of the Ministry. They learned how many babies are abandoned at birth and end up at the Orphanage. They were taken to villages to learn of the extreme poverty, and how this often leads to children being given up or taken by the State because of abuse or neglect. They also learned of the hope the Orphans have by knowing of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

After several more trips to Romania in October of 2006 and March of 2007, the Holy Spirit led Wayne and Kim to start a non-profit in the Eastern part of Romania called Moldova in the city of Iasi (Pronounced Yash). Agape Orphan Ministries was officially started in June of 2007. Orphan Joy, our non-profit in Romania was also officially started at the same time. Luci, an Orphan that Wayne and Kim had been working with over the past several trips to Romania, was hired as the President of Orphan Joy.

Luci was living in Western Romania in the city of Oradea where he grew up in the Orphanage. He was saved as a teenager and felt a strong call by the Holy Spirit to help other Orphans. When he was approached about possibly becoming President and moving across the country, he was overjoyed and gladly accepted the call. He visited Iasi several times to meet with officials from child protection and meet with other Christians in the city. God miraculously opened a door for the ministry and he moved to Iasi full time in October of 2007.
